The Wickes dehumidifier – model SKU712919 – was subject to a product recall in 2012, due to a potential safety issue with the internal wiring, that may cause it to overheat. This only affects models sold between October 2002 and December 2008.

Tyne and Wear Fire and Rescue Service say the product caused a fire at a home in Cleadon earlier this month.

The dehumidifier was completely destroyed by the blaze, along with one square metre of flooring and skirting. The rest of the property was moderately smoke damaged.

District Manager for Sunderland Ian Cuskin said: “The Electrical Safety Council website www.electricalsafetyfirst.org.uk contains some excellent advice and also has a section where people can check if a product has been recalled.

“I would urge anyone who is concerned about any of their electrical items to visit the site. Any goods that are subject to a product recall should be returned to the place of purchase.”

We've done some market research with our local electricical companies, and we foud that we offer very competative rates within Herts and Essex.

Periodic inspection reports are required to check if you electrics are in satisfaction condition for continued use, they will reveal if any of your electrical curcuits or equipment are overloaded, it can help find any potential electric shock risks and fire hazards, identify any defected electrical work, and highlight any lack of earthing or bonding.

All testing is carried out by our fully qualified electricians who are NICEIC apprvedin, and all equipment is checked reguarly to ensure that they are safe to carry out the works with, for your family.

Continued Periodic testing is a way of improving safety within the workplace and home, reducing the risk of electric shock to the end usuer, it is also a way of satisfying insurance requirements, many people do not realise that there insurance may be invalid if they do not possess a current Periodic certificate.

We offer an emergancy call out service which is 24/7 hourse a day. We ensure that we meet all health and safety regulations whilst any work is being carried out, and provide you with a certified electrical certificate once the work has been completed, to prove that your electrical requirements have been met to a high levelof standards, complying with the regulations of your insurance, avoiding invalidation.
